This site is designed to operate with 90% of all Web browsers. Netscape Navigator 3 and 4 or Internet Explorer 3 or 4 are recommended. If you don't have any of these browsers installed on your computer, click on one of the buttons below and you will be taken directly to the appropriate web page where you can download the browser of your choice.
Although both web browsers are compatible with HYPOHH.net, you may find installing the "Shockwave" and "PDF" plug-ins easier with Netscape Navigator 4. If you have any problems installing either of one these plug-ins, please consult the Macromedia and Adobe web sites, respectively (see below).

Screen Size

For best results, you should adjust your screen resolution so that a minimum screen width of 800 pixels and 600 pixels height is displayed.

For the PC: press the "Start" button, "Control Panel" and then "Display". When the "Display Properties" box opens, cick on the "Settings" tab. Finally, adjust your "Desktop Area" option to at least 800 by 600 pixels, preferably higher.

For the Apple Macintosh: from the "Apple" menu, select "Control Panels" and then the "Monitors & Sound" option. You should select a screen resolution of at least 832 by 624 pixels.

Frames

In order to fully appreciate HYPOHH.net, you will need a frames-capable browser like Netscape Navigator 3 and 4 or Internet Explorer 3 or 4 (see above).

Frames make exploring HYPOHH.net that much easier. This web site features four different frames. The first frame is on the left-hand side and contains the navigation bar which is always visible no matter where you are on the site. The second frame is at the top of your browser window and contains the title of the main section you are currently exploring. At the moment it says 'Welcome to the HYPOHH.net Home Page !'. The third frame contains the title of the sub-section you are exploring (Help - Having Problems?) and the fourth and final frame contains this page.

Fonts

HYPOHH.net has been optimised for the "Arial" (PC) and "Geneva" (Apple Macintosh) fonts. As these are standard system fonts, there is no need to install these. If your web browser is displaying a font other than "Arial" or "Geneva", you will need to activate the web browser option which allows document-specified fonts to be recognised.

JavaScript1.1

JavaScript1.1 is a programming language which can be used to enhance a web site using small scripts. It is understood by both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator web browsers.

You can see an example of JavaScript1.1 in action when you move the mouse over one of the buttons on the navigation bar. The script tells the web browser to temporarily animate the button. When you move the cursor away from the button, the animation stops. If nothing happens, it could either be because you have an old version of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator or you have disabled your web browser's JavaScript option.

Shockwave Flash

Macromedia Shockwave Flash is a free plug-in which allows your web browser to play back sophisticated animations (with or without sound) over the web.

You do not need to have the plug-in to use this site, but as there are a number of Shockwave Flash movies in the Kallmann's Syndrome section, it might be worth spending a few minutes downloading the plug-in to allow you to view these animations. Click on the button below to take you to the Shockwave Flash web site.

If you are using Internet Explorer 3 or 4, check the security settings on your browser. If these are set to high, your browser won't install the Flash plug-in. If you are using Netscape 3, you have to download and install the plug-in and then re-start Netscape. Netscape 4 can install the plug-in automatically. If you are still having problems, please visit the Macromedia site for support, or contact your network administrator if you are connected to the Internet via a company network.

Adobe Acrobat PDF Files

Acrobat PDF files appear on screen exactly as they were designed to look when printed - fonts, styles and pictures are all displayed accurately.

PDF files are used throughout HYPOHH.net - the "Info Online" especially section makes full use of Adobe Acrobat technology to display HYPOHH newsletters.

I still can't get this thing to work. What now ?

Well, you have two choices: get a large sledgehammer and smash your computer to bits or the more sensible solution would be to contact the Webmaster who will hopefully be able to solve your technical queries.
